One commission, two composers
December 13th 2024, Church of St John the Baptist, Little Missenden Composer John Webb and I have worked regularly alongside horn player Marcus Bates in creative educational projects for the Little Missenden Festival (LMF) over the past years. For the main Festival in 2024, Marcus curated a concert of brass ensemble music for the LMF Christmas concert, and John and I were jointly commissioned by LMF to write a Christmas-themed piece. In the manner of the game ‘Xmas Consequences’, John and I took turns to write sections of ‘Fanfare on Personent Hodie’ and variations on the French carol ‘Entre le Boeuf et l’Ane Gris’, until the work was complete!
